LIFT HIM UP
Just Brag About Jesus
Ps 145
I don’t think there is any doubt about what this passage of scripture is about an Exhortation
Some technical things first of all
This is a Ps written by David and he references a King and his Kingdom
Truly a ref to Jesus Christ as King of the Jews
Though they had him crucified and rejected him to this day
The Lord will restore them and give them the Messiah and King they have been looking for
and it will be King Jesus
This is a Ps of praise to the Lord in his Kingdom to the Jews Mill.
To the Christian heaven
__________________________________________________________
In-spite of the Prophetic ref./David is still declaring what he will do now
Vs 1 I will extol thee my God, O king, I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
We read these words and pass over them but what do they mean?
Extol Praise Enthusiastically
Another one of those words is Exalt
Ps 34:1-3 A Psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Exalt 1 praise or regard highly. 2 raise to a higher rank or position.
Ps 118:28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.
Is he your God? Exalt him
To lift him up Lift him up for the world to see

John The Baptist Lifted him up Behold the Lamb of God
Why John? He taketh away the sins of the world
Peter Lifted him up
Ac 3:1-6 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; 3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. 4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. 5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Ac 3:8-9 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
Ac 3:12-16 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? 13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. 14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; 15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. 16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
Let people know what he has done for you tell of his exploits
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
Ps 145:4-7 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. 5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. 6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. 7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.

We need to lift him up
Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Praise Him Lift him up
For many if not most maybe all of us
when the race is over will look back and wished we had praised him more
1 Lift Him Up at Home
Does your family hear you talk about the Lord? Or everything else but
Does your home revolve around the Lord or other things like: entertainment sports hobbies
work
Is Praise to God ready at the tongue Thanksgiving to God common
Do they hear stories of you witnessing to others
do they hear stories of deliverance from your past life
Do they see you actively living out your faith for all to see
Do they see you pray Rejoice in the Lord
Do they see you in spite of heartache hardship trouble Stay strong in faith Trusting in the Lord
De 4:9-12 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons; 10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children. 11 And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness. 12 And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.
Those entering the Promised Land were given this charge
Jg 2:7-11 And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel. 8 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old. 9 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. 11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
That generations children fell away from the Lord Why Their parents did not teach their sons and son’s sons of the miracles which they had seen
Ps 145:4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
2 Lift Him Up at Church
For to long denominations have tempered down worship to a holy hush
Hab 2:20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
And have ignored all of the passages which encourage us to be vocal enthusiastic
Baptist, with a few exceptions, have lost their shout their enthusiasm for God in worship
No wonder young people are not interested in church
Worship without participation (just Observing) singing with no passion
Preaching with no agreement (Amen)
Worship with no preparation and no heat (prayer with no fervency)
It is said, I don’t get anything out of Church cause you are not putting anything into it
nothing in, nothing out
Devil has prepped this generation How is a preacher to compete with video games shoot em’ up
Chase scenes and all thrill of a sporting event
Those things are empty and never satisfy the real needs of the Heart and Soul
In Christ Jesus is Peace Victory abundant life Satisfied expectations in the end
get engaged get plugged in Lift him up
3 Lift Him Up on the Streets
When you are not at home and not at Church Lift him up
I know this is a direct ref to the Cross
But the spiritual and devotional applications can still apply
Jesus said “ And I, if I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me”
At work in the Stores on the Corners to friends family strangers
lift him up
Chorus of a song goes like this:
Lift him up Lift him up
With the name of Jesus High
Lift him up Lift him up
Let his praises fill the sky
Jesus Christ with nail scared hands
Reaches out to every man
Hallelujah to the Lamb lift him up
This world is trying to shut him out But he is exactly what it needs
Many feel you are pushing people away when you declare the wonderful works of the Lord
But go back to vrs 4-7 The admonition is to use your voice, not just your life
Ps 40:9-10 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. 10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
Lift Him Up Tell all who will listen: what great things the Lord has done for you
Confront them with sin But don’t forget to lift up Jesus
