Is Theistic Evolution Biblical?

Creation and Evolution are hot topics wherever you bring them up. Try and bring up the Creation account around a school these days, whether it be middle school, high school, college, or even your work place, and see what kind of responses that you get. We have been programmed these days to believe that Evolution is fact and that the Biblical account of Creation is a fairy tale. If you tell anyone you believe the Biblical account of creation and reject the Evolution theory you are mocked and ridiculed as though you are unlearned and ignorant. The school systems teach evolution as the only solution without ever mentioning that there could possibly be a Divine Creator.

I was listening to a political conservative radio host the other week, and he had a whole show devoted to evolution, and asked callers to call in and give him their viewpoint on it. Well of course he allowed some Bible Believing Christians to come on, and when he did he blasted them. He didn’t give them any time to explain what the Bible says. The radio host loudly proclaimed that he held a couple PH D’s and that these Christians could not possibly know more than him on this subject. The problem with his line of thinking is that there are many men and women today that hold doctorates that at the same time believe in the Biblical account of creation. But he didn’t care what anyone else said on the show if they didn’t agree with him he just tuned them right out. He later said on the show that he believes in God but that he also believes in evolution, and thinks anyone that believes in the literal Genesis account of creation is not right in the head, and that if anyone rejects evolution then they have to reject all of science.

Let me start by saying we here at thatsinthebible.com have absolutely no problem with science. I love science, I think it is very fascinating. The Bible speaks much about science, we actually have one whole episode on this podcast devoted exclusively to science and the Bible which shows how this Bible is more scientifically accurate and up to date than any text book out in print today. God has nothing wrong with science, in the book of Daniel we have the historical account of Daniel and other children of Israel being brought to Babylon {Daniel 1:1-4} and it says in vs. 4 that these children were “skillful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them”. So neither God nor a Christian has any problem with science. But turn with me to {1st Timothy 6:20}. The Bible says here; “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:” So God warns us that there will be things that are called science, but are really not science, they are falsely called science that will oppose not only the Bible but also will oppose true documented science. Now Lord willing the next podcast I do will be on how evolution is not scientific, but on this podcast today I want to focus on the subject of Theistic Evolution. The belief that God has used evolution as a tool in His creation.

Now if you believe God’s record in the Bible on creation then you believe these basic events in history: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  About 6,000 years ago God made the first man and woman called Adam and Eve.   About 4,400 years ago there was a big flood in Noah’s day that covered the entire earth in which God saved Noah and his family

If you believe the evolution theory then you believe: 18-20 billion years ago there was a big bang of material that somehow appeared on their own from nothing.   Then 4.6 billion years ago the earth cooled down creating a hard rocky crust.  It then rained on the rocks for millions of years creating oceans.  From these oceans of complex molecules came life 3 billion years ago.  Somehow this life form found something to eat to survive, and found someone to reproduce with.

Now as you can see both Biblical Creation and the Theory of Evolution are polar opposites.  But you have those that profess to be christians who say they believe in the evolution theory.  This belief called Theistic Evolution is one of the most dangerous beliefs that there is in the world today, and I am going to show you in the next few moments without a doubt that if you believe the literal account in the Bible you cannot possibly believe in the evolution theory.

God created the creation that we see today in just 6 days, not billions of years:  If you read from Genesis chapter 1:3 and on the re-creation took 6 literal days, in which God rested on the seventh day. Now some will try and say that you are not to take the book of Genesis literal, that it is all figurative, that none of those events really happened the way it says it does.  Others will say that the word “day” in the first chapter of Genesis should be translated “the age” to be able to fit in millions if not billions of years within each creation day.  Turn with me to {Exodus 20} , here we have the 10 commandments that God wrote on the stone tablets with his own hand, and in vs’s 8-11 the Bible says: (READ THE PASSAGE)  – So there is no doubt to it that the creation days were just that, they were 24 hour days.  That should be enough to convince you, but let’s keep going:

In {Psalm 33:6,9} the Bible says: “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.  For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.”  So God spoke the worlds into existence, it did not take millions of years but they appeared right when He commanded them to appear.  All the miracles that Jesus Christ performed were performed instantly when He spoke.  When He turned the water into wine it was instantaneous, when He calmed the wind and the waves for His disciples they were calmed instantaneous, when he said to the sick of the palsy “Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.  And he arose, and departed to his house”. When Christ said to Lazarus “come forth, and he that was dead came forth” He did not speak and wait for days or weeks or years!

Turn with me to {John 1:1-3, 14} and {Colossians 1:16-17}, from these without a doubt you see that Jesus Christ was the one in the trinity that created everything.  So why don’t we look at what He tells us in the new testament to see if we are to take the book of Genesis literal.  Turn to {John 8:44} here Jesus tells us that the devil is real just as Genesis tells us he is. Turn to {Matthew 19:3-6} Jesus Christ tells us that Adam and Eve were literal real people and were the first married couple just as the book of Genesis says. Now turn to {Luke 11:50-51} here Jesus tells us that Abel historically was the first prophet killed just as the book of Genesis states. Turn to {John 8:33-59} Abraham.  Now turn to {Luke 17:26-30} Lot. Now turn to {Matthew 24:35-39} Noah and the flood.  So not only did Jesus say that the people mentioned in the book of Genesis were real and literal but he also says that all the events in Genesis literally took place.  So when Genesis Chapter One says that God created everything that we see in 6 days, then that is exactly how long it took, 6 days!

In {1st Corinthians 15:45} Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit once again affirms that the book of Genesis is to be taken literally; “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”  Look now in vs’s 21-22 “For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”  In these passages God is telling us that because of Adam’s transgression in the garden we have received the sin nature through him.  But that Jesus Christ is the one that can free us from our sins.  Now if you say that Adam was not a real man that God created then you can’t believe Jesus Christ either since they are both listed together here.  Thats why in {John 5:46-47} Jesus says;”For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.  But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?”   See evolution says that death was brought about by God, that it was God’s plan for many to die so that He could eventually bring about the human race, but the Bible says that God created man perfectly and death came as a result of man’s sin against a Holy and Righteous God.  See that’s exactly why so many want to believe in Theistic Evolution, it flips things around, and tries to get you to believe that we are all evolving and getting better, but the Bible says we are sinners and need the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse us from all of our sins! {Romans 5:12} says;”Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”

The most important thing that you need to take care of is your sin problem, your sin will send you straight to a devil’s hell.  All the work has been accomplished for you when Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world, and was buried, and rose again the third day {1st Corinthians 15:3-4} if you believe that, and know that you are a sinner on your way to hell, and repent {Luke 13:3}, and ask Jesus Christ to save your soul from hell, then He will!  {Romans 10:13} “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  Why won’t you call upon him today?  You never know when your last breath will be, and once you take that last breath without Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you will lift up your eyes in hell being in torments.  Please call upon Him today.
