Is all music good music? Is rock music good music? Is rap music good music? Is classical music good music? Surely country music must be good? If you like the music you listen to it must be good music, right? Is there even such a thing as good or bad music? Could the music that you are listening to be affecting you? Music: God’s Gift or Satan’s Tool?

Is God for or against music?

• (Job 38:1-7) Music is a very powerful tool, there is no doubt about it. Music has a history upon this Earth even right at the very beginning when God was creating the Earth. Here are the angels (the morning stars) which are angels (Revelation 1:20) and they “sang together”.

• (Ezekiel 28:12-15) Here is the devil when he was created, and he was created perfect (vs. 15). And we are told that God created him with “Tabrets” (percussion instruments) and “Pipes” (wind instruments). So God intended from the beginning for music to be created on this Earth.

• (Revelation 5:8-10), (14:1-3) God also has music in Heaven, so we see that God is for music, that God has nothing wrong with good godly music.

• For what purpose did God Create Musical Beings?

• (Revelation 4:11) God created everything ultimately for His pleasure. So God created the Angels, lucifer, and human beings as musical beings to bring Him pleasure. Too much of this world is focused on trying to find music to listen to or to even create themselves that pleases them rather than focusing on it actually pleasing God.

Today I’m going to bring you a study on one of my favorite things to teach and preach about…

It is also one of the most important subjects of the entire Bible, and that subject is, The Deity of Christ.

Some also refer to this subject as the divinity of Christ… In either case, it means that Jesus Christ is God.

So let me boldly and unashamedly proclaim that right at the outset, that indeed, Jesus Christ is God!

Having made that claim, I will take you on a tour of several verses in the Bible that make or support that same proclamation. Because the truth of this matter is really not contingent upon what I think, or what you think, or what somebody else thinks… The truth of this and all theological matters are contingent upon, what saith the Scriptures?

And as we will see right from the very beginning, the Scriptures are clear in their position on this matter, that Jesus Christ is God.

So let’s start with a verse that references “the beginning”. Not the more famous Gen. 1:1, but the lesser known John 1:1. Continue reading

Are YOU on the Mission Fields with your Missionaries?
Read: (Matthew 9:36-38)
Pray
Introduction: “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Every time I have read this passage myself, I have seen this passage only from one angle. But I believe there is another level of depth to this passage that too many times we don’t dig far enough down to. I have always read this verse and believed that the labourers that are said here to be few that we need to pray for to be sent to the fields, refer to you and I. And that is one hundred percent true. But we many times like to make a sharp division and say that we each have our own personal mission field. For instance we would say that Bro. Mattachera and his family are called to go to Zambia Africa, so that is their personal mission field, but not ours. For the rest of us that stay here in Martville, we would say that this as our personal mission field here in Martville but not the Mattachera’s. And if God has told us to stay here, then we need to pray to God to send more missionaries to physically go to places such as Africa. Continue reading

WHAT DID JESUS PRAY FOR?

I suppose if we could find out what Jesus prayed for that would be a good thing an important thing

We have seen in our bibles that Jesus went up into a mountain apart to pray But there is no written record of what he prayed

certainly his example is good for us to follow to come apart to pray

Jesus in the Garden went a little further prayed if it is possible let this cup pass from me never the less not my will but thine be done

Here is an example for us to surrender to the will of God and forsaking our own

Jesus on the Cross Asked the Father to forgive those who crucified him

Again another example we should follow Forgive those who do us wrong

But there is a place in our bible where Jesus pours his heart out to the Father for his Disciples in their presence On the way to the garden

Jn 17:9-24

There is something special about having someone really pray for you
with Fervency Passion Sincerity

But to have the Lord Jesus praying for you that would be amazing

Did you notice vrs 20

How To Have A Healthy Heart

Introduction

It probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone that Heart Disease is the number one killer of people in the United States every year. Each year over 600,000 Americans die of heart disease. It also probably doesn’t come as a surprise that many cases of heart disease can be prevented through lifestyle changes. What does that mean? That means quitting smoking, eating a healthier diet, exercising at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week, and maintaining a healthy weight. So what we have here is a serious problem and a prescription on how to fix the problem, if not entirely fix it then, certainly go a long way to mitigating the occurances of heart disease for a lot of people. So my question for you today is, how is your heart? Is it healthy?

I know what you’re thinking, “Hey, isn’t this supposed to be about topics from the Bible?”. Ok, glad you asked, today we are going to take a look at what the Bible says about the heart, but not just any heart, your heart, and my heart.

The Bible meaning of Heart –  The heart that you feel beating in the center of your chest is an important organ, some say perhaps the most important because without it pumping the life giving blood that flows through your body to every organ, your brain and all other organs will die. But the Bible speaks of something else too which God has identified as your heart. Take a look in Jeremiah 29:12:13 “Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. What does that word “heart” here mean? Continue reading

#70 That’s In The Bible!

That’s In the Bible!

Today I’m going to bring you a study that’s a bit different than our normal studies on this podcast. While we are always talking about things that are in the Bible, today we are going to focus on particular things in the Bible that a lot of folks would be surprised to find in the Bible. Most of these things are things they have heard of but do not know that those things had their origins in the Bible. After getting saved and then starting to read & study the Bible, I was amazed at the things I found in there. So first, I find these things to be very interesting… But then also I find that once you know these things you can use them to open up spiritual conversations with people. If someone uses a common expression, quotes a song, or a movie, etc. and you know that the quote is in the Bible, you can point it out to them and begin to sow the seed of the word of God. The Lord has given this world His word to communicate to man His thoughts and to reveal to man His nature. This Book, the Bible – is unlike any other.

Psalm 147:15 says of the Lord & His word, He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth his word runneth very swiftly.

God turned His word loose on this world. When He did – it took off running. I mean it went everywhere and it got into everything! Those frogs in Exodus, that got into all the Egyptians stuff… they had nothing on the word of God. It is everywhere. It has even found its way into our popular culture.

*It’s found its way into Book titles and Movie titles.
*It has been incorporated into popular music over and over through
the years.
*And it has made its way into our every day language.

The sports world regularly talks about David vs. Goliath matchups. And additionally Continue reading
